Prolific rock journalist Neil Daniels takes us back to the 1970's with his latest biography that focuses specifically on the Bon Scott fronted AC/DC, tracing the bands roots and origins as they set out on the journey that would lead to 'Back In Black' and beyond. The author draws from his own interviews with early members vocalist Dave Evans and bassist Mark Evans together with recollections from peripheral figures that were around the band during that period when they rose from the clubs to arenas, delivering monumental albums that included 'Powerage', 'Let There Be Rock' and 'Highway To Hell'. The words of the Young brothers are heard from the wealth of existing interviews that the pair have carried out over the decades for the rock press and this all adds to the aura of legend that surrounds Bon Scott.
Daniels keeps the narrative moving along nicely with just the right level of detail and this is a book that can be easily digested in a couple of sittings, not unlike his take on the early years of Metallica that was published in 2012. A timeline of events, discography, truncated history of the Brian Johnson era and a foreword by Mick Box and afterword's by Bruce Kulick and Doro Pesch complete the story.
