If Sacred Steel wanted to get the attention of metal fans then their latest release The Bloodshed Summoning is a great slab of mighty metal that should easily do the trick. The comic book inspired cover art is quite a cool touch and while not the usual it works very well.
The Bloodshed Summoning from the formidable five member outfit is a mixture of many of those traits that makes metal music appealing. Sacred Steel let loose performing a hard hitting amalgamation of thrash and ballsy metal. Like a combined cocktail of the music that bands the likes of Kreator and Accept are known for, so this also leads to variation in the many songs.
This is Sacred Steel's eighth album, releasing their first Reborn In Steel many years ago in 1997, and so this is one band that have a wealth of experience which shows on The Bloodshed Summoning. There is a lot of heavy material especially if you take into account the bonus tracks.
Sacred Steel give us "Storm Of Fire 1916" an explosive thrasher to introduce The Bloodshed Summoning followed by "No God /No Religion"; now that's a thought-provoking title and a great spirited heavy metal number. "When The Siren Calls" reels back the tempo but not the power, and drummer Mathias Straub unleashes vigorously on "The Darkness Of Angels" while the entire band whip up a frenzy of thrash on "Under The Banner Of Blasphemy".
Sacred Steel aren't displaying any lack of enthusiasm for consistently crushing metal on The Bloodshed Summoning.
