Mortillery: Origin Of Extinction

The track "Battle March" is just the kind of infectious metal song what you want to kick off a cool Thrash metal album, a heavy instrumental that really sets the mood for the looming thrash attack. That thrash attack come courtesy of the female fronted Canadian band Mortillery and their vocalist Cara McCutchen is totally suited to the imposing classic thrash metal this band serve up on their exciting new compilation Origin Of Extinction.

Mortillery are a powerful package as "No Way Out" builds up to set free that power and Cara shows what a range she possesses releasing her angst and soaring high, the guitars also soar and unleash those welcome punishing riffs. "Cease To Exist" doesn't let up as Mortillery are locked in metal barrage mode and when "Creature Possessor" kicks in with a catchy slower drum groove you may think that intensity has subsided but the drums soon return to speed. This group obviously know how to write catchy pummelling riffs and "Seen In Death" is proof of that.

In 2013 many years after Thrash metal had its origins it really is nice to see newer bands like Mortillery, along with the old school, still giving us thrash fans more of that great music that we grew up with and continue to enjoy,
