Love de Vice: Silesian Night 11.11.11 - DVD

Poland's Love de Vice has two successful full length albums under their belt already; Numaterial, 2010; and Dreamland, from 2009. Now they have released "Silesian Night 11.11.11", from their live show at the Silesian Theater in Katowice, Poland on DVD. Love de Vice is made up of Andrzej Archanowicz, on guitar and vocals; Tomasz Kudelski, on drums; Robert Pełka, on bass and vocals; Robert Wieczorek, on guitar; and Krzysztof Słaby on keyboards.

This band is the complete opposite of my favorite Polish band Satellite. Their songs are slower and more methodical than Satellite's upbeat smooth rhythms. They are definitely closer to King Crimson's epic slow deliberately classical sound.

The music is different, interesting, and professionally performed. The theater is beautiful and the DVD shots and special effects only add to the performance. Their Pink Floyd meets King Crimson slow waltz is perfect for a cold November evening in that classic theater.

Mateusz Szmyt on cello and Tomasz "Ragboy" Osiecki on dilruba are easily some of the highlight moments of this stellar concert.

The music video for "Foggy Future" is an excellent slice of life from Poland and a good representation of the sonic power this band brings to the table.

The interview with Andrzej Archanowicz and Pawel Granecki details the history and growth of the band well. The interview is in Polish, with English subtitles.

If you are in search of something unique and yet well produced and performed, this is the ticket.
