Golden Resurrection: One Voice For The Kingdom

My expectations were elevated for this album after reading the associated details singing Golden Resurrection's praises and referring to the potential with their "Mk3" line up featured on this new album. Those hopes were answered with the enjoyable neo-classical power metal on One Voice For The Kingdom, Golden Resurrection's third release.

In 2008 Christian Liljegren, vocalist of the bands Narnia, Divinefire and Audiovision, together with guitarist and vocalist Tommy ReinXeed of the group ReinXeed, started this band. Golden Resurrection take inspiration from popular metal acts such acts as Yngwie Malmsteen, Helloween and Stratovarius and likewise Golden Resurrection's songs have a range of tempos mostly of the faster kind. Stryper is another of those groups listed and Golden Resurrection also show religious influences in their lyrics.

One Voice For The Kingdom certainly does not bring that monotonous feeling like some of the neo-classical albums I have heard of which I eventually tune out to. Those that have that 'more isn't enough' attitude when some instrumental restraint would have made those songs more desirable. While I wouldn't really class the arrangements of Golden Resurrection as overly technical metal there are still ample compelling additions courtesy of their talented guitarist and his fellow band mates. Like as they tear it up on "The TempleWill Remain" or on the spirited "Heavenly Metal" one of this albums two instrumentals the other being the slower blues number "Moore Lord".

Another positive that I took away from this album is that there is nothing fake sounding about the contents of One Voice For The Kingdom especially the all natural drum sound which is nice to hear. Golden Resurrection are performing their songs without any over polishing and have created something quite impressive this time around.
