Professor Louie and the Crowmatix: Wings on Fire

This cool little band is a five piece set including Professor Louie (vocals, piano, Hammond organ and accordion). Miss Marie is doing vocals, percussions and piano; you have Gary Burke on drums; Frank Campbell on bass and vocals while Josh Colow handles all guitars and add some backing vocals.

I am not familiar with this act but I do know they have been around for years. The overall feel on this recording is casual, un-pretentious and down to earth country-rock music. The Hammond organ of Mr. Louie is omnipresent throughout this release, especially in the first part. On the other hand, the second portion showcases his accordion playing on a regular basis. Opening track, "Down at the Country" is a nice boogie woogie/ rock & roll number bound to get your feet tapping to the catchy tune. Following song, "Uncommon Love" gets the Hammond going with strong bass lines on a catchy rocking song. Track number 8 is a more laid back / ballad song with a little country edge. This song contains pleasant acoustic arpeggios and cool guitar sounds & solo. More acoustic tonalities are found a couple tracks later on a song named "Moment in the Sun". You can even enjoy a bit of classical guitar on "Center of Your Circle"... On a couple songs, I noticed a positive vibe in the lyrics, namely: "Open Hand, Open Heart" and "Center of Your Circle". We all need a little optimism in our lives don't we?

Not a classic but a nice little country rocker.
