Star Insight: My Time Is Out

Star Insight are a Finnish Symphonic Metal band who were formed in 2005 and have had quite a few personnel changes, but seem to have found their feet in 2012. At this given moment in time, the band have release this single, two tracks, as a taster of what they are all about and what can be expected from this band. Based on what is presented here, the band offer power and force, although their approach is somewhat generic of the genre and in an embryonic state, where time will mature and grow their approach.

My Time Is Out starts off the affair a well-balanced piece that is layered with rapid guitar, bass and drum passages that will leave you sweating; fast heavy and moody music that is finely balanced with an industrial approach; and if that wasn't enough the band have managed to include some rather interesting Black Metal framework which will give you a good idea where vocally the band are coming from, although there is some melodic structure present too. The keyboard interactions add the cohesive glue to the constructs, being more predominant on Signs Of Victory than on the title track, but no less important in the final outcome. Signs Of Victory does take a differing approach being less in your face per se, but never moving to far away from the rapidity of the guitar work. The keyboard work is more stated on this occasion, adding a greater effect, offering an electro 80's feel without taking over the occasion, but could just do with being a little higher in the mix.

All in all this isn't a bad attempt and it will be interesting to see what the final end product will sound like, although one gets the feeling that it won't be a million miles away from what is offered here.
