Sleep Deprived: Through Dreamscapes

Sleep Deprived is a Florida based band that whose album Through Dreamscapes is the second release from new cassette only label "Tridroid Records". Now, as a word of warning: Through Dreamscapes is not really music per se. Instead the album is a soundscape of dark ambient noises. Instead of the standard verse, chorus, verse, instruments mingle occasionally with odd noises, hisses, hums and other sounds. As a result the album will probably turn off the vast majority of people who attempt to listen to it.

However, those who actually take the time to LISTEN to the album without jumping to the conclusion that the cassette is merely a jumble of noises will find a lot here to like. While opening track "Chants from the Rings of Saturn" is initially jarring to listen to, the rest of the album is both soothing and mystifying. Some "songs" seem almost like peaceful lullabies, while others seem to be act as background noise to whatever thoughts fill your mind. Sound strange? It is, but it is also extremely captivating.

The sad thing is that a lot of people who hear this album won't even give it much of a chance after the first minute or two of strange noises that greet them. This is really too bad as the album is really quite fantastic. The sounds that are here evoke strong pictures in the mind if you take the time to listen. I personally had a fantastic time listening to the album and have played it over and over since receiving the promo a few days ago. Is it really a 4.5? Check it out for yourself and see.

Those of you who are curious about hearing the band should order a copy right away from Tridroid-The label only produces 100 copies of each release and really, this is some fantastic stuff. The label's website can be found here:
