Damaged: Road Trip

Damaged are a German based, 5 piece Sleaze Rock band that features drummer, Sven Dirkschneider, the son of legendary screecher, the one and only Udo Dirkschneider, formerly of Accept and currently fronting U.D.O. Damaged has released a new 5 track EP entitled Road Trip that shows that even in Germany the elements of Sleaze Rock are alive and well.

Filled with predictable lyrics, innuendos and clichés, Damaged plows ahead with their brand of rock with a no compromising attitude. Songs are upbeat and rockin' and are delivered with as much attitude as the lyrics imply. Songs like "Liquor and Poker" and "Long Gone Creed" offer up some Hard Rock groove with dash of swagger in the vocals. Most of this EP has a very Hollywood, Sunset Blvd type of feel to it and you can just HEAR the spandex and big hair, as well as smell the Aquanet Pink hair spray.

Musical performances on Road Trip are quite rudimentary. Production duties are courtesy of current U.D.O. guitarist and former Accept drummer Stefan Kaufmann, and he's done a good job here, especially with the guitar tone. Guitars have a very Tool like tonality and fullness (Diezel amps?) and really cut through and what might have come across weaker were very much saved in the mix.

Damaged are Phil Werbelow- Vocals, Christian Meinke- Guitar, Backing-Vocals, Alex Staschko- Guitar, Florian Schmitz- Bass and Sven Dirkschneider- Drums-Backing-Vocals and while this formula has been done before (over & over) their songs aren't half bad but not overly catchy. If you are into the Sleazy side of Hard Rock, ala Hanoi Rocks, Sleaze Beez or the very cool Crash Diet, give Damaged a spin.
