Nova Art is a Russian band who have released 2 full lengths and this EP The 3rd Step was initially released last year independently. Soundwise the band is all over the map going from more thrashy type stuff, to groovy sounds and everything in between. When I say "modern" think bands like Sonic Syndicate and you'll get the picture. The album is actually quite solid and enjoyable, something that surprised me as I generally don't like stuff like this. However, the hooky choruses and infectious melodies are just so enjoyable that they even had me wanting to listen again and again.
It's hard to pick highlights on the album as everything is so good, however personally I loved "You, Only" the most. The band does a bit of an odd choice of a cover in "Me Against the Music" by Britney Spears, however, although it is odd, it fits right in with the rest of the album.
It would be interesting to see how well the band would do with a bit of promotion behind them as their sound is totally something that could take off with a little bit of push. Hopefully they end up getting noticed by a larger label soon and get some of the attention that they deserve.
