In Alcatraz 1962: The Drive

Apparently the work of In Alcatraz 1962," is regularly compared to "The Ghost Inside on crack." I have no idea at all what that means but if it means highly aggressive, shit-kicking hardcore metal then I'm all over it. Songs like "Still Strong" and "Winter Sun" in particular combine massive riffs, melody and supreme loudness to provide one of the better examples of the genre in 2012. The genre remains resolutely unchanged by The Drive, it grooves along nicely and has the requisite breakdowns. I'm taking away a half star for the wholly unnecessary one minute and forty-five second instrumental "Over These Years" but otherwise this is a very solid album.
