Jumping Jack: Trucks and Bones

PPPPPoker Face... why start with the first lyric to a Lady Gaga song? Jumping Jack is all about Cars(trucks), Women, Whisky and Pokerplay. Heavy duty all the way. The three piece band rock like mad on their first full blown release, hailing from Nantes, France they bring us Stoner, Heavy hard rock.

All the way through the album influences are as obvious as act such as Metallica, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam to name a few. Bands originating in France more often than not have the difficulty of their accent disturbing the quality of a good song when sung in English, but no such thing applies for Jumping Jack as singer/ guitarist Julian Bells is gifted with a good sounding English tongue. The other two members of the band are Manu Redhead on bass and Chris Dabrown on drums.

Trucks and Bones is a collection of 11 feast songs, very heavy indeed. A great deal of compression must have been used producing the album as it is a thick layer, a wall of sound actually. Not that this is a no brainer, but it suits the music and gives it its familiar intonation.

As musicians they know how to play a fair and square piece of music. Straight to the point, very listenable and nesting on your eardrums from the first spin. Although after a numner of spins the listening pleasure starts to fade to the back, it still will be an album you might want to listen to every once in a while, not the entire album mind you but a few songs will do.

There is not one song deserving to be called 'outstanding', nor is there a tune that can be called absolute rubish. Good driving music for sure.
