Desalmado: Desalmado

Brazil's Desalmado's self-titled album is a half hour of 15 uncomprimisingly brutal grindcore. Now, grindcore can be a bit of a liability as a genre sometimes as its penchant for speed can be a bit much at times. As a result I personally only listen to it occasionally as most of it is just a blur of speed. However, that being said, when grindcore is done with a bit of other elements thrown in-a dash of groove here and there or a bit of melody every once in a while-the album can be much more interesting than just a big rush of songs thrown at you. Desmaldo knows this and does throw in enough of melody to make the album much better than it could have been.

As a result Desalmado's album is one of the more interesting grind albums I've encountered in some time-not particularly innovative, but interesting enough that I will want to take another spin of it or two in the future.
