Suture: Skeletal Vortex

Despite the somewhat interesting cover art, this is easily the most monochromatic record I've heard this year: blast beat, Floridian death metal, some predictable guitar breaks, some anti-Christian lyrics, basically a boring, non-technical version of Immolation. Every song follows the same format, so it's poppy death metal as well; it would be more interesting if it actually was pop with blast beats. Even for fans of mindless metal, this record is probably still pretty hard to get through. At least there's a break in the ten-minute closer "Chaossuary" with a very much welcomed acoustic harmony interlude, which then fades out into ambience...and then they kick back in with more mindless riffing. Why metal tends to ruin the things it creates is beyond me but save yourself the time and pass on this; there's better mindless, so-called "violent" metal out there, preferably from the actual Florida era.
