Grave Digger: Home at Last EP

Let's put to one side the point of releasing an EP in 2012 let alone the timing (their new album is out in about five minutes)because we should be concentrating on the six quality tracks provided for us by German veterans Grave Digger. Power Metal is never better than when it gets all self-referential and metal as on "Metal Will Never Die" which, unsurprisingly is all about how awesome metal is and how cool it is to raise one's fist in the air with like-minded folks.

Then there's the live tracks recorded at Wacken in 2010 which give a real impression of what their set was like and the rapturous reception they received. As I mentioned in the above paragraph metal is especially fine when extolling the virtues of the genre and "Heavy Metal Breakdown" is one of those songs which makes the listener (this one at least) feel good to be alive. I for one can't wait for the imminent arrival of Clash of the Gods.

Track Listing:
1. Home At Last
2. Rage Of The Savage Beast
3. Metal Will Never Die
4. Ballad Of A Hangman (Live)
5. Excalibur (Live)
6. Heavy Metal Breakdown (Live)
