Heaven Rain: Second Sun

Symphonic majesty all the way from Bosnia in the form of five piece Heaven Rain. As a band they have stuck to the path of producing an album full of melodic songs, songs that are laden with hooks. The opportunity to exclude the formulaic operatic approach has been much welcomed to these ears, something that has kept what is on offer here more appealing.

Miona Graorac paces the music with her vocal tones an approach that is complimented by some rather adept guitar playing by Igor Dragelj, astute lead and rhythm passages that create atmospherics, changing the mood and meter of the music at will, as does the keyboard interactions of Goran Bastinac which is all held together by a tight backline of Bojan Joksic bass work and Nebojsa Lakic precise drumming.

Look out for the powerful and bombastic title track Second Sun, the moody ballad Face of Misery that is supported by Bastinac's stylish keyboard tinkering, the military precise instrumental When Day Fades to Dark a culmination of beauty and atmospherics.

As an album Second Sun won't offer up anything ground breaking but as an album it is entertaining and will appeal to fans of Kamelot, Sonata Arctica and Nightwish.
