Bauda: Euphoria… Of Flesh, Men and The Great Escape

That Bauda deal in visions, soundscapes and textures for their sound comes as no surprise when you learn that César Marquez, the man behind the Chilean three-piece is a conceptual artist and a multi-instrumentalist. Thus, Euphoria… is an aural portrait of a broad range of emotions and moods in varying forms and shapes. The sing structures are elaborate and unconventional and the dynamic control impressive. The ambitious album takes in a vast array of sonic splendour and diverse atmospheres that, though not without flaw, works to create a sonic experience that is as uplifting as it is thought-provoking and touchingly melancholic and introspective. There are moments when some of the passages tend to linger too long and so lessen the intended impact but given time, this makes for a more than interesting listen. Bauda are seeking something through their music, and Euphoria… is an open invite to join the search that brings more than a few rewards…
