Gibson, Peter & Tom Newman: Celebrated Artists Band – Join Together

Peter Gibson and Tom Newman have teamed up to produce a double album of tracks for this "Join Together" production. The music was recorded at Newman's Argonaut studios between 1977 and 1982. Gibson is a founding member of Brett Marvin and the Thunderbolts and Newman is most remembered as a producer who worked with Mike Oldfield on his "Tubular Bells" album. The CD compilation also features a guest appearance by Pink Floyd's David Gilmour and Mike Oldfield. All of the tracks are previously unreleased.

This is a great collection of tracks that add to the volume these two famous artists have produced over the years. The addition of David Gilmour and Mike Oldfield surely makes this something every collector will want to have in their audio archives.

The music is timeless, though set well within the late 1970's and early 80's. You can definitely hear and feel the influence of the early 70's throughout the double album. But they also mix in enough blues and straight ahead rock and roll to keep everyone interested. Good work and well worth the effort.

My favorites were the bluesy opener, "Nowhere to Go", "Walking" , "The Collector", "The Edge of the World", and "Teena Shee".
