Alessandro Sforza: guitar, vocals, Fabio Valentini: guitar with Alessandro Esposito: bass and Andrea Alberati: drums make up Lykaion who are a wholly new name to me but one which I'm pleased to make acquaintance. The opening section of the title song may lead to the conclusion that we may well be in mellow territory but that is definitely not the case. We are in fact in a curious pop-inflected, gothy, hard rocking territory - put that on the sticker on the front of the CD!
The instrumental section towards the end of "A Cold Summer Day" is quite lovely (that's the bit when the band are rocking out, not the final acoustic part) and I would have had no qualms if it had been extended for a little longer. I could live without "Free From All Your Fears" as it doesn't have anything which hooked me but that's the only tune I couldn't get a grip on and as it's only three and a half minutes long it isn't a great problem. The key song is "Fuck You (I love myself)" which sounds like a slightly toned down Murderdolls and is suitably angry in quite a dumb way. Nothing But Death is a pretty straightforward hard rock record with good tunes and there's nothing wrong with that.
