Reaper's Consecration, the latest EP from Mexican death metal horde mixes old school brutality with a sense of groove that you don't often hear these days in the genre. With song titles like "Dead Today, Dust Tomorrow", "Necrohell", and "I Am the Reaper", you basically know what you are in store for with Zombiefication, and that's good old fashion gory death metal. Vocalist Mr. Hitch sounds somewhat like Nile's Dallas Toler- Wade, as his venemous growls and screams slash through a non-stop assortment of punishing, jagged tremelo picked riffs and bludgeoning power chords, jackhammer drum blasts, and even the occasional lightening guitar solo. "Deathrides" is as old school as it gets, and "Necrohell" packs beefy, distorted riffage and tons of groove into a tight death-n-roll package.
With just 5 songs, Reaper's Consecration is over before you know it, but it's a fun ride while it lasts. If you are looking for some groove laden brutality, Zombiefication have just the cure for you.
