Lately there has been an infusion of excellent releases in the metal and hard rock arena-Especially with bands with women singers in them. Royal Thunder, Demon Lung, Witch Mountain and The Devils Blood all feature tough as nails women. No longer just fronting goth pop "girly metal" bands, women have finally come to the forefront of metal.
Add to this list of quality female fronted bands Heldin, whose blend of blues, doom and sludge is phenomenal. Opening song "On the Nose" is so fucking heavy and crushing you will feel like you just got hit by a train. Musically the best description for the band is sludge but there is also a healthy dose of Sabbathy inspired doom in there as well. All of the tracks are slow and heavy as fuck, but still rock at the same time. Check this stellar EP out at Itunes now. A cd release will follow soon.
