Pith: Fore

What to say about this work by the the Doom-Death-black-metal band Pith? They hail from Halifax, first started in 2007 by the duo Jason Vautour and Myles Deck. The band saw the light as a live act in 2011, but have consistently changed members as they are developing a sound of their own.

Right now the band are Jason Vautour- guitars, Myles Deck- drums, Brett Campagne- vocals, Tony Kirker – bass. Playing live they are also joined by Nick Jones- guitars and Chris Gatsa on drums. Myles Deck does not perform live.

Describing the music for Pith is like opening the complete black/doom/death metal scene. Influences are all around. Bands that sprung to mind instantly were Napalm Death and Mastodon. Pith do not play my genre but I can understand if it is yours. The songs are at least well thought out and production has been done thouroughly, but even if they have already existed from 2007 you still hear that this is a new band. They are not there yet but developing. Let the future see what may come out of it. Fore does not sound bad for the genre, but its not top notch yet, so Pith obviously have some growing to do.
