Big Bang: Diez Tragos

This is the second album from Spain's Big Band and the first which I have had the pleasure of hearing. Manuel Rubiales is the vocalist alongside Siscu Carrasco (drums), Rafa Caamaño (bass) and Francisco Rubiales (guitar) and between them they have made a well-crafted album which benefits from being played all the way through.

This isn't radio friendly easy to get into pop music – and it is sung in Spanish which will undoubtedly put some off but that's their own narrow mindedness coming back to bite them on the you know what. The guitar work is uniformly excellent throughout and although at times it can be a little self-indulgent Diez Tragos is a highly atmospheric/hypnotic take on modern rock ("Crucifícam" for example) which isn't what I would ordinarily choose to listen to but is easy to understand why people would.
