Invertigo: Veritas

This is a brilliant album of modern progressive rock, featuring the talents of band members: Sebastian Brennert, on vocals and piano; Michael Kuchenbecker, on keyboards; Carsten Dannert, on drums and percussion, Matthias Hommel, on bass and pedals; and Jacques Moch, on guitars. This group brings back great memories of Kingcrow's; (from Italy) early music mixed well with early prog sounds of the 70s, brought up to date with modern melodies and instrumentation.

"Darkness" is an excellent kick start full of guitar and drum power and keyboard magic. The Italian spoken word adds an extra dimension to the power of the piece. Then they give you some cool Rush/Kingcrow keys matched well with more blazing guitars and drums.

"Lullaby" opens with beautiful female choir – like vocals and bell keys, before the roaring guitars and drums push forward. The keys on this track are excellent. "Mr. Frog…sing me a lullaby, and give me some peace and quiet". Oh how that sounded so good the way the lead vocalist sang it. As the world has grown darker and become so much more complicated, we all wish for those times in our youth when we could just lay back and relax, and yes hear a lullaby.

The ocean "Waves" that open this track are wonderful. A nice drifting song with excellent acoustic guitar and bass, before the heavier guitars and drums enter the soundscape. The keyboards and piano rhythms are excellent.

"Dr. Ho" is full of cool synths and plenty of "Mr. Roboto" Styx memories, but then the fun begins as the "Watcher of the Skies" like organ work begins. Excellent track and the Hackett – like soaring guitar complete the panorama. "Too old to rock and roll"…ah some Tull to add to the mix…Excellent!

"Suspicion" is full of beautiful opening acoustic and bass guitar, and then they add the amazing piano to complete a fantastic soundscape. 13:41 minutes of excellent guitar, bass, drums and amazing over the top synths and keyboards then take wind. Second best song on the album.

"Truth" is another excellent contribution full of some of the best guitar, bass, and keys on the album.

…but they saved the best for last on the over 21 minute epic "The Memories of a Mayfly". Fantastic guitar, bass, keys, and drums open the track, and then some fantastic piano is added to lift the level of the music even higher. The pipe organ like keys then take this one over the top for good. They add a nice reggae beat just to break things up. The flute like keys are full of starry skies.
