Wild Frontier: 2012

I have to confess that Wild Frontier's first four albums completely passed me by. This is an oversight which I now intend to rectify immediately as 2012 is one of those albums which came with no expectations but has made me somewhat of a fan. 2012 is quite a mixed bag. At times it rock hard and at other times it rocks soft, "Why are the Good Things Too Hard to Find" has a distinct Last Autumn's Dream feel to it and it even features the obligatory (for Euro bands) ABBA cover – "Gimme Gimme Gimme" which fortunately has changed the gender specific nature of the original but is still great fun.

Apparently the band have played over 400 gigs across Europe over the last twenty-odd years and it isn't difficult to see why they'd be in demand as their songs are unfeasibly melodic and catchy – ideal for the live setting. I can easily imagine "To the End of the World" opening a set and setting the evening off to a great start. There are tons of great songs on 2012 such as the ultra melodic "Another Lonely Day Without You". Throughout 2012 there are massive hooks and tunes which make this a surprise (for me) contender in erm, 2012.
