Taylor, Dulcie: Free of this Sorrow

"Dulcie Taylor learned a hard music lesson at an early age - don't leave your ukulele unattended in a porch chair at the beach. Some clueless teenager can sit on it and smash it to bits. The demise of her ukulele was a tough moment for ten-year-old Dulcie, but that Christmas her Mother bought her a guitar and Taylor's lifelong love of singing and songwriting began. Since then, Taylor has shared the stage with a long and impressive list of artists, including Bonnie Raitt, Jerry Lee Lewis, Asleep at the Wheel, Vern Gosdin, and Kathy Mattea. Taylor has released the self-released title, Other Side of the Bed, Diamond & Glass, and in 2004, her third recording, Mirrors and Windows " (http://www.dulcietaylor.com/homepage.html, 2012).

Free of this Sorrow, to be released in March of 2012, includes guests John McEuen (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) guitar, mandolin, banjo; Tim Pierce (Crowded House, Christina Aguilera, Seal, Santana) guitar; Denny Fongheiser (Tracy Chapman, Heart, Stevie Nicks) drums; Rick Braun (Boney James, Kirk Whalum) trumpet; Scott Breadman (Jose Feliciano, Lindsey Buckingham, Macy Gray, Paul Simon) percussion; Brian Mann (Kenny Loggins, Larry Carlton, Michael McDonald) accordion; Tony Recupido (The Witcher Brothers) vocals; Dom Camardella (Flora Purim, Airto Moreira) keys; Randy Tico (Flora Purim, John McEuen, Kenny Loggins) bass" (http://www.dulcietaylor.com/homepage.html, 2012).

This is an excellent collection of country – based rock that will fill your hear and ears with plenty of great harmonies and good soft vocals. Taylor has a unique voice that shares similarities with a great combination of Loretta Lynn mixed well with Linda Ronstadt.

Every track on this album will hold your attention and provide a new perspective and sound that hasn't been heard for a while. The musicianship is top notch and with the list of celebrities above - no wonder. Taylor assembled a powerful group of musicians to support her. My favorite tracks were the title track, Free of this Sorrow, Everyday Tragedy, Dark Blue Velvet, All Along the River, (with its Civil War theme), First Kiss, and Amor Malo, (with its Spanish twist and guitar).
