Pessi, Giovanna and Susanna Wallumrod: If Grief Could Wait

If Grief Could Wait is the teaming of harpist Giovanna Pessi and the wonderful vocalist Susanna K. Wallumrød. Giovanna Pessi, plays baroque harp; Susanna K. Wallumrød, produces beautiful haunting vocals; Jane Achtman, plays viola da gamba; and Marco Ambrosini, plays nyckelharpa.

Many of the works were penned by Henry Purcell, with the addition of Who By Fire, written by Leonard Cohen, and Wallumrod's self-penned, The Forester and Hangout.

With a title like If Grief Could Wait, you know what to expect. However, this is not your average tear-jerking melancholy album. The music is beautifully rendered as it helps focus one's attention on the grief and hopefully provides the pause necessary to allow for the next stage of development past. This is not for the average night by the fire. It is a remedy for that time when we need the comfort of both loved ones and the music that helps us begin the healing process.

The standout tracks on the album include the opener, The Plaint, Cohen's Who By Fire, A New Scotch Tune, and the closer An Evening Hymn.
