Terigi, Simone: Rock Meditations

Simone Terigi is the guitar master behind the success of the hard rock band Lucid Dream. Rock Meditations is his first solo album, and let's just say he is off to a fantastic start. In addition to playing all guitars, Terigi plays mandolins and glasses. Terigi is based out of Sestri Levante, Genova, Italy. In addition to Lucid Dream, Terigi has played with Anathema, Agony, Epic, and Selen.

This may be a rude awakening for the heavier rock fans that follow the bands Terigi is a member of, but it was a nice surprise for me. It is a great meditational album to, as Terigi states in his press release, "take one hour of your time, close your eyes, relax and enjoy good listening".

It is an excellent album to listen to for relaxing and pondering life's meaning or after a long hard work week.

Sea Notes, is by far the best track on the album, opening with warm, soft electric chords, that drift through the waves of ocean pulsing in the background. Such a perfect sound and feeling, with Terigi's brilliant guitar soaring on with the engulfing ocean waves crashing around.

The Bells of Awakening is full of soft acoustic guitar supporting wonderful mandolin and later winding electric chords. There are many reminders of Carlos Santana later in the track, however Terigi remains unique in the sound and pitch of the notes.

Lardee is full of more great electric guitar chords and soft mandolin and Nicola Paoli's cello playing support. The thundering cloud sound effects add to the strength of the track well.

Astral Memories is full of spacey flights of streaming electric guitars with supporting cello.

The Heart's Home opens like a Heart, (band), inspired mandolin showcase with soft acoustics and percussion rumbling in the background with support. An excellent throwback to the wonderful music heart the band made so famous in the 1970s.

Into the Future is a fiery guitar solo, extended full song with great cello and acoustic guitar support.

Destiny is another extended electric guitar soloing track, with supporting acoustic guitar filling in the spaces of the soundscape.
