Hollywood Burnouts: Excess All Areas

"Very 'White Lion-ish' 80's styled hard rock/metal." That's how this one was described to me which isn't necessarily a recommendation as I don't particularly enjoy White Lion, however, I am pleased to say that I very much enjoy Hollywood Burnouts (although purely in a postmodern ironic way as music is a serious business.)

Everything about this album screams "1980s" from the cover ("what's wrong with being sexy") which in itself is reminiscent of Donnas' Bitchin' album to the song titles; how about "Hands of Rock", "I Wanna Ride" or "Wild at Heart"? "A Part of My Heart" is every bit a piano-strewn ballad as one may expect and it only takes until the second song "Tonight" before the, "City of broken hearts," gets a mention.

A swift trip to the band's website tells us everything we need to know about what to expect, the band are named Vito Crash, Nilkki Sin, Mike Nazzty and Chrizzy Roxx who appears to be a woman although a couple of the band look equally as feminine. Whether there is a space for such blatant 80s throwbacks anywhere else apart from Germany is a moot point but I defy anybody not to listen to say, "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme" and grin like a buffoon or run away and invent grunge!
