Help! For Japan: Help! (EP)

Apologies for being a bit late in catching up with this excellent EP aiming to raise money for Japan's earthquake victims. However now that I have, can I suggest that you head off to i-tunes, where for the princely sum of £2.37, you can not only help those unfortunate enough to be caught up in a catastrophic natural disaster, but can own three versions of an all-star melodic rock cast covering The Beatles song "Help". Masterminded by Soul Doctor/Fair Warning frontman Tommy Heart, the EP features a plethora of talent, with band members from Edguy, Magnum, Helloween, Stage Dolls, Krokus, Pink Cream 69, Bonfire, Hartmann, Axxis, Unisonic, Primal Fear, TNT, Evidence One, Downspirit, Bow Wow, Masterplan, Gotthard, Nitrogods, Airless, Deep Purple and Rainbow, with the results being a classic song you know and love given a surprisingly Journey like AOR twist. Deserving of your support and donation, Help! For Japan is also an excellent little release with great performances of a classic song.

Help for Japan is a charity project initiated by German vocalist Tommy Heart (Soul Doctor, Fair Warning) who has enlisted the support of a huge number of Rock and Metal luminaries for this re-working of the Beatles classic. Some of the featured names here include vocalists Tobias Sammet, David Readman (Pink Cream 69), Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear), Tony Mills (T.N.T.), Marc Storace (Krokus) and the unmistakable Bob Catley (Magnum). Amongst the musicians are Don Airey, Neil Murray and the Gotthard duo of Leo Leoni and Hena Habegger. Proceeds go to the Japanese Red Cross to aid those affected by the disastrous earthquake of March 2011. The song is a well known one but delivered here as a classic rock anthem with scorching guitar solos and epic vocals. All in all, a fantastic idea and one that is very worthy of support.
