Herod: For Whom The Gods Would Destroy

Another album so completely out of step with today's mainstream that it's actually about fifteen steps ahead of its time. While eclecticism often costs individual identity, Herod have managed to spread their wings wide over the domain of metal, embrace its many diverse tributaries and still emerge with an album that remains whole, pure, and highly musical where feel is never sacrificed for brutality and where brutality is never forsaken for the sake of pleasing the masses. With melodically-driven songs such as "When Your Body Falls" (arguably the song that this album is remembered for), "Into The Sky" and "The Finch Against The Fire" on their side (and thrashier, darker ones, too), it's likely that Herod won't remain an unfamiliar name for long. New to Herod? Then consider this Chapter One, Book One of what we can only hope is a tale of epic, epic proportions.
