Sushi Rain: Breathless

Sushi Rain is a name that is totally new to me. Until I gave Breathless a spin I hadn't heard a lick of their music but I was intrigued as their bio suggests that they will provide, "A 360 degree view of rock rich in innovation and originality to enjoy in every nuance…" Apparently their key influences are Extreme, Living Colour, Toto, Faith No More, Queen and Bumblefoot. Having said all that they described their work as funk metal, not exactly a genre to set my own pulses races as it happens.

I'm not sure that Sushi Rain can be described as metal in any way. They are most certainly quite funky and the horns combine well with some nice fluid guitar work. There is even the odd progressive element mixed in and "Fly" is actually quite lovely but taken as a whole album it isn't one that I can see myself returning to on a regular basis.

Track Listing:
01 – Shake your body to the disco hell
02 – Something illegal inside my life
03 – Don't waste more tears
04 – American show
05 – Happy for another night
06 – Big mistake
07 – Midnight queen
08 – I wanna fall in love
09 – Fly
