Cornerstone: Somewhere In America
Hailing from Austria are Cornerstone, a traditional band in the ways of line- up, that being
Drums, bass, guitar and female vocals. Cornerstone leave no doubt as to what they intent to do, and that seems to be a popular band in the USA. Hence the title of their album Somewhere in America.
The album is full of rock n roll songs obviously influenced by American mainstream rock bands like The Babys, with the vocals of Patricia Hillinger taking an important role. Hers is a rocking voice of high standards. Drummer Mike Pawlowitch is a steady and rhythmic drummer, with a great bass player next to him in Michale Wachelhofer, the ingredients are there to make it rock big time. Steve Wachelhofer is there to finalize everything with his riffs and solos on the guitar.
And yet after listening a few times I did not find the album all that interesting anymore. Typical for AOR and mainstream styled music, it quickly lost its appeal to me. Not that it is bad but not exciting enough for this reviewer.
Plenty of folks that will love this album though, so 3 out of 5 ain't bad.
