HB: The Battle of God

HB is a Christian symphonic metal band, formed in Forssa, Finland in 2002. The band is led by the beautiful and epic vocals of Johanna Aaltonen; with excellent piano and keys from Antti Niskala. Samuel "Samppa" Mäki-Kerttula plays drums; Tuomas Kannisto brings the deep bass sounds, and Sofia Ylinen and Bob complete the soundscape with incredible guitar riffs and imaginative power.

This is good symphonic heavy metal with a powerful message behind their music. They are proof that Christian metal bands can have a harder edge and still play in the same league as some of the giants.

The album highlights for me are "Time of Silence", "Hallelujah", "Find Out", and "Away from Home". "Away from Home" is especially good with Aaltonen's warm and comforting vocals wandering amidst the cascading acoustic guitar and excellent keys.

Always good to find another new band to enjoy and follow. Looking forward with anticipation to their next, while I enjoy this album to its fullest.
