Sherwood, Billy: What Was the Question?

I have been a fan of the bands Circa and Yes and was aware of Billy Sherwood's other work with multiple artists in the rock and progressive rock community. I was fortunate to receive this promo for his latest solo album.

Definite highlights of the album include the amazing What Was the Question? album opener. Living in the Now, has some great advice wrapped within the lyrics and good supporting music for the message. Delta Sierra Juliet is full of wonderful acoustic guitar and accents. Neutral Ground is a wonderful reflection on the state of affairs in politics and the world in general. Free World on Fire is an excellent reflection on the state of American involvement in the many conflicts we are currently engaged in abroad. It opens with an excellent electric guitar solo and that ripping electric comes back later in the song making it the best on the album. Made of Stars is also filled with excellent electric guitar riffs and grinding mixed well with cool keys, set to cool lyrical imagery.

With this solo album, Billy Sherwood plays all instruments and sings all the lyrics. What Was the Question? is a great introduction to Sherwood's solo work and I am interested enough to search out more. As a producer, composer, singer and multi – instrumentalist, Sherwood is involved in many projects in both the popular and progressive genres.

This is a great sample of his many talents and a good listen.
