Dub Trio: IV

NYC based Heavy Rock instrumental experimenters, Dub Trio are back with yet another slice of kick ass, groove laden, blistering, high energy Rock 'n Roll. Their new album simply titled, IV picks up right where the critically acclaimed last record, Another Sound is Dying, left off. Full of heavy rockin' grooves, sometimes mixed with Reggae beats and heavily infused with their trademark wacky sound effects throughout, IV is simply a really cool listen.

IV is a 9 track CD full of musical explorations that are all under the guise of heaviness, while always tweaking, twisting, turning, cutting and chopping into new uncharted territories, all while making the art form of "dub" into their very own. New tunes like, "Ends Justify The Means" could be the soundtrack playing in your head if you were to be floating aimlessly in outer space, while the cartoon like soundscape of "1:1.:618", filled with nothing but various noises is an interesting interlude. "Control Issues Controlling Your Mind" is like a punch to the stomach and "Patient Zero" is a heavy steamroller of a song in epic proportions. These guys can riff it up with the best of 'em.

IV is steeped in low end bliss that touches on Metal, Punk and the previously mentioned Reggae and will also evoke a plethora ofemotions out of you. Beautiful, chaotic, haunting and disturbing are only but afew of what you can expect out of this release. Dub Trio are tremendous musicians that continue to push the boundaries of how much sound can be made by 3 human beings with only 2 hands each. Their musical vocabulary seems to grow in spades with each release and disappoint, they do not. Dub Trio are what you might call beautiful, heavy noise and I dig it! Check 'em out.
