Iron Lamb: The Original Sin

Hailing from Sweden and housing various members who have graced bands such as Repugnant, Dismember, General Surgery, Insision and Bombstrike, it would be easy to think that Iron Lamb would spit out an in your face metal onslaught. However with their The Original Sin album this band follow up on the sound suggested by their earlier EP's by rampaging through what would best be described as aggressive metal fuelled punk. Think Ramones careering into Motorhead while skating with early Suicidal Tendencies and gobbing out the phlegm of the Sex Pistols.

Sharp chaotic riffs career their way into straight ahead pound, pound, pound drumming to land into the territory of attitude over sophistication and simplicity over intricacy. That said there's a real Metallic edge to the frantic riffage, although the shouting yelled vocals make sure things remain thoroughly on the snotty punkified side of things. There's little variety from song to song, but that doesn't stop things from being insistently catchy, having you thrashing about and hollering along with the short sharp choruses.

What The Original Sin lacks in guile and subtlety it sure makes up for in shit-kicking forcefulness and while it might catch out those looking for something more Metal based, Iron Lamb offer up an attitude packed diversion that does what it set out to do. If you like Metal edged punk, you'll like Iron Lamb, if not, you won't – simple as that.
