Sinfully Yours: Sinfully Yours

Sinfully Yours are a heavy rock/metal band from Tampere, Finland. The band formed in 2008 and recorded this three song demo in early 2011. In the band are Arto Sirkia (guitars, songwriting), Benjamin Varonen (vocals, lyrics), Jani Hatakka (bass) and Eetu Partala (drums).

The band does show some promise with this three song collection, however, there are a few problems. The vocals of Varonen are okay but they do not really stand out from the crowd. His voice is fairly gruff, sometimes venturing into a lower monotone which actually works pretty well on the album's second track "Sinfully Yours". A nice acoustic guitar intro slowly builds injecting some much needed atmosphere into the music. I like the darker edged moodiness the song conveys.

With "My Cross" and "Shotgun Sings" the sound is pretty similar, crunchy riffs and pounding drums although the former does feature some slower sections. That said, I was not blown away by these songs but maybe with a full album Sinfully Yours will have better luck. Hopefully on the next one the band will use more acoustic sounds to balance out the heavier riffs. A little more imagination would go a long way. We shall see.
