It's been a busy little few months for Spain's Offtopic. Hot on the heels of the digital EP Backstage which featured their first work in the English languages comes Impacto which sees the band once again singing in their mother tongue. It has to be said that Offtopic's material works well in both domains. Rosa Ibáñez's vocals are every bit as passionate in Spanish (perhaps more so) whilst guitarist Toni Sánchez-Gil is a very accomplished player and pleasingly he chooses not to over play which is unusual these days.
Generically there is evidence of straight forward heavy metal, progressive influences, hard rock and in "Abrazame" there is a gentle ballad which should provide light relief in concert and back in the midst of time would possibly have provided a crossover hit.
Recommended for those with an open mind for non-English material.
