Loeb, Chuck: Plain 'n' Simple

"Chuck Loeb grew up in Nyack, NY. It was there, at the young age of 11, that Loeb decided to make music his life's work. Self-taught for several years, he began working with local bands in the area when he was 13, playing dances at the local youth center and eventually throughout the metropolitan area" (, 2011). His jazz guitar prowess has allowed him to play with some of the most famous jazz artists in the world.

This is an excellent sample of fantastic professional jazz guitar played with expertise. Joining Loeb are Carmen Cuenta, on vocals for 'E' Com Esse Que Vou Eu'; Lizzy Loeb, on vocals for 'Skylark'; Will Lee, on bass on 'E' Com Esse Que Vou Eu'; Mauricio Zoratelli, on percussion on 'E' Com Esse Que Vou Eu'; David Charles, on percussion 'Red Suede Shoes' and 'Plain 'n' Simple'; Till Bronner, on trumpet, on 'Red Suede Shoes'; Nathan Eklund, on trumpet and trombone, on 'Red Suede Shoes' and 'The Blues App'; and Eric Marienthal, on saxophone, on 'Red Suede Shoes' and 'The Blues App'.

There are plenty of highlights and solid tracks full of dynamic sounds from all the players on this album. It is very relaxing evening dinner, relaxing by the fire, or even dancing music that will help take the edge off the world outside.

With all the famous guest artists and especially Cuenta's sexy vocals, 'E' Com Esse Que Vou Eu' is easily the best track on the album. The title track, 'Plain 'n' Simple' has an excellent jazz mixed with the blues feel to it, and some of the best guitar licks on the album. They have a lot of fun with 'Bebop Betty', and Lizzy Loeb's wonderful vocals and Chuck Loeb's soft guitar will take you off to dreamland on 'Skylark (For Tweety)'.
