Moksha: Here to Go

Moksha is made up of Sam Lemos, on vocals; Jeremy Parks, on guitars; Pat Gray on drums and percussion; Brian Triola, on organ, keyboards, and vocals; and John Heishman, on bass and vocals. Moksha is the Hindi word for liberate, and this band's music does just that to the sound of progressive rock music. This Las Vegas band has a unique sound which blends 70s jazz rock so well with progressive sounds familiar from the same decade.

The album opens to the sounds of the city before the trumpets, heavy bass, keys, guitars, drums and percussion take over. Lemos' vocals have a great mix of sounds similar to Jan-Henrik Ohme, from Gazpacho combined well with maybe Marty Balin from Jefferson Airplane. You can even hear some sounds similar to Graham Nash at times throughout the songs. Great vocals are important and this band has it covered well.

The musicianship is excellent throughout, combining rock rhythms and excellent guitar with jazzy sounds and percussion. It's as if the bands Chicago and Steely Dan began grooving with maybe King Crimson. Imagine Pink Floyd or Crimson with a backing horn section.

"Arrival", "The Seed", "Measure of All Things", "Starswarm", oh heck, it's all good! This album is full of dramatic and moving moments. A great, diverse sound for a band. The guitar solos are amazing. Very entertaining and one of the most diverse musical experiences I have had this year within one album.
