Here's an oddball little act from Sweden who call themselves Alex Carole & The Crush. Their debut Vol. 1 is a mix of power pop and punk, showing influences of such bands as Cheap Trick, The Clash, Green Day, The Knack, The Who, Alice Cooper, and The Hellacopters. Probably not going to be much here for our regular SoT readers to sink their teeth into, but if you like teenage themed lyrics, jangly guitars, melodic angst ridden vocals, and simple yet effective rhythms, you just might find something of interest here. Some of the tracks, like "And Know About Me" and "Firefly" have some toe tapping melodies, crisp riffs, and tasty keyboards, which might warrant repeat spins, but for the most part Vol. 1 is probably only going to appeal to those who can't get enough of alternative radio type bands who all kind of sound alike and strike a nerve with a very young audience.
