Bonamassa, Joe and Hart, Beth: Don't Explain
What if someone had the idea of bringing together one of the most soulful, blues rocking female vocalist with one of America's leading blues guitarist, right now? What an incredible idea, right? Well, then you'd have this fantastic match between singer-songwriter Beth Hart, and Joe Bonamassa.
Beth Hart is a Los Angeles native. She began playing the piano at age 4, and has made music all her life. She attended L.A. High School for the performing arts, and released her first album, Immortal, in 1996.
Joe Bonamassa on the other hand has been ripping up the charts with blues both here in the USA and across the pond throughout Europe, recently playing some big festivals with his fellow band mates Black Country Communion, and on his solo tours.
Bringing these two blues rockers together was genius! Beth has the perfect soulful voice to fill these songs with emotion. "Sinner's Prayer", lights a fire which never fades throughout this powerful blues album. Joe's guitar is spot on target delivering cutting edge blues riffs and chords to fill the air behind her.
"Don't Explain", the Billie Holiday classic is the title track and another standout from this album of greatest hits. Hart covers two Etta James classics, "I'd Rather Go Blind", and "Something's Got a Hold On Me", and she displays her love and homage to the blues legend with some of her best vocals on the album. Hart also covers Aretha Franklin's classic "Ain't No Way" so well you will enjoy the new passion she brings to the song.
Fantastic album. If you like classic blues you have got to have this new take on some famous songs, with some of today's best American blues artists.
