Kaufmann, Achim: Verivyr

German pianist Achim Kaufmann leads this trio of musicians that includes: Valdi Kolli on bass and Jim Black on drums. The music was partially inspired by "Kyrill", the name of a major storm that swept over Western Europe on the same day that the three musicians were traveling to Munich to record the CD. The title "Verivyr", Kaufmann declares "may allow for various associations – one could associate the title with such words as verify, river, fire – and also the 'yr' in Kyrill".

This is interesting jazz piano mixed well with bass and drums. After a slow opening it picks up pace and never seems to drift or slow. It will either keep you on your feet or inspire you to think creatively. Perfect for dinner parties or relaxing by the pool.

Warm summer melodies which enliven the spirit and give it plenty of flavors in the form of jazz music. The standout tracks for me were: 'Permission (Dingbats)', 'Bright Industrial Smile', and 'Berlin No Lights'.
