Taxxi: Traxx

Britain's Taxxi were one of those pure AOR bands from the Eighties that achieved early success, thanks to MTV. As a result, Taxxi opened for the likes of Foreigner, Loverboy, Triumph, The Police and even The Motels. The band released no new material after 1985 and was largely forgotten.

But MelodicRock Records' Andrew McNeice (who also runs approached the surviving members of the band in 2009 and convinced them to dig into their archives in search of unreleased material. What they found became Traxx, 11 songs recorded n 1987 and 1988 with the musical accent on keyboards. This collection is wholly of its time, from the bouncy melodies to the synthetic production. JK Northrup (King Kobra, Billy Thorpe, Paul Shortino) remastered the songs to sound fresher, but there's no denying these "traxx" were recorded almost a quarter-century ago. David Cumming has the perfect voice for radio, circa 1985.

Traxx will appeal to diehard AOR fans and Taxxi fans, but MRR has stronger releases on its roster.
