Tombs: Path Of Totality

Latest effort by Brooklyn based core metal/black metal/ punk metal band Tombs is called the Path to Totallity. With the album, I believe it is their third full length, Tombs take us on their journey or rollercoaster ride through the catacombs of Heavy, Heavy music.

Fast and powerfull drum rhythms along with a thriving bass take care of the massive backbone in Tombs' music, The back beat is a layered wall of sound on top of which the growling and grunting of lead-singer Mike Hill adapting into the groove, playing some funky guitar while he's at it.

Listening to the album made me somber very somber indeed. I really felt the dark emotions the music brought onto myself. Dark, moody music, partly metal, partly punk some doom and black metal lurking around the corner. Path of Totallity is not an album you'd be willing to listen to when feeling slightly depressed. You will need energy to sit through the album in its entirety, as I certainly did.

The Tombs trio have made their third full length effort with Path of Totallity, and with each of these albums the band set a step forward in the right direction, becoming a stronger, better utilised group. A great effort it is but certainly not an album that will be found on all corners and in every record collection.

When into metal post punk, black metal or doom you will probably enjoy the album.
