One Man Army And The Undead Quartet: Error In Evolution (Reissue)

Metal Mind Productions has given you the opportunity to enjoy the thrash metal goodness that is the second release from OMAATUQ called Error In Evolution. Originally released in 2007 this disc picks up where their debut left off. Trying their best to melt your face off, the band gives you a thorough pummeling but this time it is not nearly as potent as their first offering.

After the promising start called "Mine For The Taking" where the band is at their heaviest and best with a blistering paced rocker, they seem to just float through the rest of the disc on cruise control. Mostly the rest of the album is much of the same thing where they give you mid-tempo metal with the snarling, growling vocals that is the mainstay of the band. There are a few minor exceptions.

The first is the very unnecessary and frankly boring remake of the Alice Cooper tune "He's Back (The Man Behind The Mask)". The next change for the band is the addition of keyboards on the song "Heaven Knows No Pain". With a proggy synthesizer beginning it is totally out of place on this album.

Metal Mind entices you with 3 live bonus cuts that were recorded in 2006 from Stuttgart, Germany. Actually these cuts are more interesting than the rest of the album! They seem to have the energy that is lacking in the studio material.

All in all this is not a bad disc. It is just a very ordinary one. There isn't anything on here that really grabs you but nothing that wants to make you shut it off either. They are a decent band that has made a decent album but nothing more or nothing less.
