L'Impero Delle Ombre: I Compagni Di Baal

L'Impero Delle Ombre are an Italian band made up of Giovanni 'John Goldfinch' Cardellino on vocals and percussion; Andrea Cardellino, acoustic and electric guitar; Oleg Smirnoff, Hammond organ, mini Moog, and mellotron; Fabian Oliver, Bass; and Dario Petrelli on drums.

This is a dark, almost rock opera, full of heavy bass and hard electric guitar , cool synths, mellotron and Hammond organ. The lyrics are in Italian and the vocals are powerful. There is some great instrumental work here, especially on guitar and all of the keyboard work.

The opening overture was great and for me the experience then became less original. The inclusion of the Black Sabbath cover "Snowblind" really sealed the comparisons between this work and much of Black Sabbath's music.

Track Listing:

  1. "Compagni Di Baal"
  2. "Diogene"
  3. "Divoratori Della Notte"

  9. "Tutti Colori Del Buio"
  10. "Snowblind"
