Nocturnal Blood: Devastated Graves – The Morbid Celebration

Devastated Graves – The Morbid Celebration is yet another debut album from the underground manufactory known as Hells Headbangers. I mean these people are un-relentlessly coming up with loads of CDs to review…

Nocturnal Blood is no newcomer as such, having released a string of LPs and the like since 2008. Not a lot of information is available, but this appears as being a one man act. The path chosen by Nocturnal Blood is quite obviously black metal with the "intent of spewing ominous death noise blasphemies in the old tradition" as mentioned on the band's site. Well yes, it is blasphemous and sub-par too. First, we have a raw and muddy sound production. The drum kit sounds like it is made of cardboard and the riffs are sometimes shy. The compositions are simple, repetitive and sound pretty much all the same. The relentless tunes usually have moderate passages and wacky guitar solos. The vocals are actually the best part on this disc, for they possess wickedness and a beastie vibe in them. A bit of a dark ambience introduces and close the album, but it would had been a good idea to squeeze in a bit more of that here and there too. I was able to find an interesting composition on position # 6, "Ritual Lust"; a more crushing tune.

Nothing new or real interesting to be heard on Devastated Graves – The Morbid Celebration, just a typical Hells Headbangers release.
