Macabre: Grim Scary Tales

Murder Metal is what the Macabre music is called. It is Metal alright from the fastest and loudest kind. The growling vocals and speeding guitars as a trade mark of the musical genre.

In existence for 25 years already Macabre know what it takes in the genre, and they are pretty well known on the scene. On Grim Scary Tales they give us our money's worth with 14 songs and just under 50 minutes in length, not bad at all. The Grim Scary Tales focuses on various characters in the vast world of myth and telltales. Jumping off with "Locusta" at high speed, almost speedmetal like, while "Nero's Inferno" and "The Black Knight" are next seemingly more like the sound of Elvenking, as the Black Folk Metal elements in "Black Knight" almost make it a 'sing a long' song. Very enjoyable all of this is. Now I do not want to give away everything by going through all the songs, so I'll just let you listen for yourself. I like to make a remark about it in a lyrical sense.

Grim Scary Tales is like a rollercoaster ride where every now and again the cards seem to be thrown out of the tracks, only to be stopped just in time for the next steep climb or sharp curve.I have enjoyed this CD very much, and the history of metal has just become a little different with this alternate take on the genre.
